The village of Aston is conveniently situated for many beautiful walks along footpaths and canal towpaths. The cheshire cycling route passes the front of Briar Cottage and continues through the village.
Within a couple of miles is the historic town of Nantwich, with its timber framed buildings and one of the finest medieval churches in Britain.
Chester is a walled city and contains many Black and White half-timbered buildings. The galleried streets, known as the rows, evoke medieval times. The Cathedral lies within the city walls and is open to visitors throughout the year.
Delamere forest is a remnant of the vast royal hunting preserve of the Earls of Chester. The visitor centre has various displays telling the history of the forest and there are many waymarked walks through the woodland.
Beeston Castle, situated on top of an isolated red sandstone outcrop, provides outstanding views across the Cheshire plains to the Mersey, Wales and the Pennines in Derbyshire.
